Organic farmers seek leave to reverse class certification decision

Today the certified organic farmers of Saskatchewan filed documents with the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan in Regina, seeking leave to appeal Judge Gene Ann Smith’s May 11, 2005 decision denying them class certification under Saskatchewan’s Class Actions Act. The farmers are seeking compensation for losses due to contamination of organic fields and crops by Monsanto’s and Bayers’ genetically engineered canolas.
National Fair Trade Weeks
Submitted by mariuss on Sat, 05/21/2005 - 22:48. From May 1 to May 15 were the National Fair Tradei Weeks. The May issue of the Common Ground magazine has an article about this event and they present a list of local companies that are contributing to the fair trade market development.
Almost all companies mentioned by Commond Ground are in the organic food sector. Two thumbs up for all of them!
