The Alternative & Integrative Medical Society (AIMS) at SFU is proud to present Pesticides and Health: Our Right to Know, on Thursday, June 24th, 7:30 – 9:45 pm at SFU Harbour Centre, Room 1426. Guest speakers Thelma Macadam, Chair of the Health Action Network Society (HANS), and Sean Griffin, researcher for the Labour Environmental Alliance Society, will discuss the effects of pesticides on human health, both in the home and in the work place, and will suggest what you can do to reduce exposure to hazardous pesticides. A question period will follow the discussion.
Thelma Macadam is a great grandmother who has been researching health and environmental issues in the Lower Mainland for over thirty years. She has won multiple awards for her dedicated work on pesticides, and has successfully lobbied for policy changes on chemical spraying in Port Coquitlam and Port Moody.
Sean Griffin is a researcher and co-author of two publications on toxic substances and health, the CancerSmart Consumer Guide and Cleaners and Toxins Guide.
