New Canadian Organic Regulations

In case you have not heard, in 2003 national consultations began to create Canadian Organic regulations.

On December 22nd 2006, the Minister of Agriculture and Agr-Food Chuck Strahl announced the final publication of the Canadian Organic Products Regulations had taken place. These regulations will help protect consumers against false organic claims and will also govern the use of the new Canada Organic logo.

The guidelines will be phased in over the next two years. Afterwards it will be mandatory for all organic products to be certified for inter provincial and international trade.
